Need Help?
Literacy For Life has a solution for every literacy need. Find the program that fits your needs here:
Individual Literacy
Our Literacy Program is designed to assess the individual needs of each student and to meet them accordingly. The student’s life goals are analyzed, and classes are fully customized to these goals. Our volunteers transcend their roles as tutors, frequently becoming mentor figures to their students. This program gives students support and motivation to make the most of the opportunities afforded by the local community.
Family Literacy
Our Family Literacy program ensures that parents are literate and are empowered to communicate with and for their children. This enables them to be active participants in their child’s early learning, as well as the community at large.
ESL - English as a Second Language
Literacy For Life’s programs serve as an initial means of language acquisition for non-English speakers. The program offers comprehensive assessment to determine the literacy level of the learner. Tutors are trained and provided with all necessary support and materials. Instruction is individually tailored to each learner and their unique needs.
Tutor Training Workshops
Literacy For Life offers free certification workshops for volunteer tutors in both fundamental English literacy and English as a Second Language. Training workshops are held once per month. Previous teaching experience is not required, volunteers need only a desire to help others. Tutors have the option to either tutor independently in the community, or in a regional Literacy Learning Center.
