For more than 40 years, Literacy for Life has provided free, one-on-one English and literacy tutoring for people age 16 and older across San Luis Obispo County.
Today, we need your help more than ever. After losing state funding, we must raise $175,000 by June 2026 to continue this life-changing work.
When individuals learn to read, write, and speak English with confidence, they gain access to better jobs, greater independence, and stronger family and community connections — benefits that ripple across generations.

1. Make a Personal Donation
Every gift helps provide free English and literacy tutoring, training for volunteer tutors, and materials that empower adults and families to succeed.
All donations are 100% tax deductible (EIN 95-3807037) and stay right here in San Luis Obispo County.

💛 $50 – Provides books and learning materials for one adult learner
📚 $100 – Trains and equips a new volunteer tutor
🤝 $250 – Supports one month of one-on-one tutoring sessions
🏠 $500 – Sustains a community learning center for one week
🌟 $1,000+ – Be a Literacy Champion and keep a learning center thriving for an entire month
